Manchester City right now are as impressive as anything we've seen in the Premier League for some time and Pep Guardiola's team are threatening to break all sorts of records, and they've already knocked one off.

Guardiola's team have been improving as the year has gone on and this season they've been on another level, the type of thing we haven't seen since Manchester United's 08 double winners or Mourinho's back-to-back Chelsea titlists or Arsenal's Invincibles.

Recent wins over Manchester United and Spurs put them in an almost unassailable position but results over Christmas eve eve all but decided them as Premier League champions this season.

City were once again rampant as they slotted four past Bournemouth and then in the night game saw their closest rivals Manchester United drop points in draw with Leicester City.

People are already wondering if Guardiola's side are the best in Premier League history and they've already started breaking records.

In scoring four goals against the Cherries City became the first side to score 100 goal in a calendar year since Liverpool in 1982.

In the early 80s Liverpool actually notched up a total of 107 goals in the 365 day period and City actually have the chance to better that before the end of 2017.

On Wednesday they are away against 15th placed Newcastle United and on New Years Eve they come up against 16th placed Crystal Palace and either or both of those games could easily be routs.

The Citizens play both their final two games of the season away from the Etihad meaning they also completed an unbeaten home year on Saturday whilst Sergio Aguero notched his 100th home goal for the club:

Records for the most wins, goals and points in a Premier League season are all well within Guardiola's side's grasp right now.

It would take a brave man to bet against them considering their dominance.
