Clubs and fans alike are always looking out for the next big thing, especially one coming from their own academy. At Liverpool fans may soon see one youngster already playing well above his age.

There is no more iconic group of youngsters making it at senior level is of course the Class of 92 and no one ever stops going on about the Manchester United group.

At Barcelona La Masia also produced a ridiculous generation of excellent footballers as Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Lionel Messi, Carles Puyol, Victor Valdes and Pedro all came through to win multiple trophies with the club.

In Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool team there might be a lot of expensive and brilliant players but perhaps the one fans are happiest with Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 20 year old has made right back his own but there's another young player in that position coming through at Anfield.

16 year old Dutch defender Ki-Jana Hoever is playing seven years above his own age group after making his debut for the Reds' under 23s at the weekend.

Hoever didn't make his debut in any old game either, he played against top of the table Merseyside rivals Everton, and he did pretty well according to his manager.

Following the 1-0 win under 23 manager Neil Critchley said, "Unbelievable. Sixteen. Wo. Considering he played in the week as well..... He tired towards the end which was understandable.

"But I thought his calmness and assurance, his decision-making, his intelligence without the ball, it was terrific. Playing against a good player, I was very impressed with him indeed.

And much like Alexander-Arnold it seems the youngster is pretty good at free kicks too:

It could be some battle over the next few years for the first team position although it's definitely going to be a while until Hoever is really battling.
