Robert Lewandowski has just become Poland's all-time top goalscorer in sublime fashion.

The Bayern Munich striker, who captains his national side, led them out away against Armenia this evening and went into the game having found the net 47 times for his country.

He was one behind record goalscorer Wlodzimierz Lubanski, who was capped 75 times between 1963 and 1980.

But that all changed as Lewandowski went goal-crazy in a 6-1 rout at the hands of Armenia in the Group E qualifier.

Hull City winger Kamil Grosicki opened the scoring, before the former Borussia Dortmund striker bagged his 48th goal for his country and became the record scorer in the 18th minute courtesy of a wonderful curling free-kick.

Not satisfied with just the one goal, Lewandowski then scored from another set-piece, this time an indirect free-kick in the box that he lashed past the Armenian wall in the 25th minute.

And then in the second half, he reached half a century in 90 appearances for Poland, as well as breaking another record in the process. With 15 to his name, he now boasts the most amount of goals in a UEFA senior men's qualifying campaign, one better than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Here's how Twitter reacted:

What an achievement for the 29-year old, and what a way to do it!
