David Luiz gave an emotional speech to his Arsenal teammates, ahead of the final day of the season before he leaves the club and probably the Premier League.

Luiz decided to end his two year spell at Arsenal, with his contract expiring after the season, and it's likely that he'll be leaving England too.

The 34-year-old has struggled with injury recently and wasn't able to get the send off he deserves as he missed the game against Brighton on Sunday.

However, ahead of the match Luiz was at least able to give a heartfelt message to his teammates as he became tearful when saying his goodbyes, as the other players applauded him.

"If, in some moments, I did something bad with you guys, sorry, but it was always my intention to give my best for you guys," the Brazilian opened.

"It was always my intention to help you guys. I think you guys understood a bit that I am a collective person, so my happiness is to see the others happy. So I try my best.

"Thank you so much. I hope to see you soon guys. I'm going to play for a few more years and soon I'm going to be coach... so maybe someone from here is going to be my player! I don't see a lot of parts for young players! [laughs].

"But for sure it's great. It's never easy when you finish a cycle but it's always great because God has the best for us.

"I just say to you guys, especially the young guys, enjoy it because football goes so quickly. One day I was the youngest in the changing room, now I'm the oldest.

"I've just played football, and continued to play football, because I really love football, that's why. So enjoy this moment of our lives.

"One day it's going to finish, but try to finish it at the high level - and the high level is giving everything every day and enjoy and share moments together."

Luiz has faced plenty of criticism during his spell at Emirates, having previously had two spells in the Premier League with Chelsea, but has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta's side.

The Gunners will have to replace him in the summer with an experienced centre back, otherwise they might be looking at another tough season.
