The football world is in mourning today over the sudden, shocking passing of former Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Rangers defender, Ugo Ehiogu.

The 44-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest at Tottenham Hotspur's training ground yesterday and sadly passed away, this morning. He is survived by his wife Gemma, his son Obi Jackson and his daughter Jodie.

Ehiogu was a coach of Tottenham's U23 team and it was the North London club who broke the news of his tragic passing, earlier today.

The England international is best known for his lengthy spells with Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, but it was during his brief spell in a Rangers shirt that one of the most spectacular moments of the defender's career took place.

Ehiogu may have only made nine league appearances for the Ibrox club during his 2007 stint in Scotland, but he made his short spell north of the border count with a moment of pure inspiration during his first Old Firm derby.

The former Villa and 'Boro centre half wasn't particularly renowned for his exploits further up the pitch, scoring just 19 league goals between 1991 and 2007, yet when the ball hovered in his vicinity in the Celtic area during an Old Firm clash in March 2007, Ehiogu acrobatically dispatched a jaw dropping effort as if he'd been doing it throughout his career.

This scintillating effort in the 50th minute would prove to be the match winner. Not bad for your first and only goal for the club.

The goal has been remembered by Rangers and their fans today in the wake of Ugo's untimely passing:

Celtic have also put rivalry to one side to pay tribute to the former Rangers defender:

The thoughts of everyone at SPORTbible are with Ugo's family at this time. Rest In Peace.
