Cristiano Ronaldo's two goals, including his incredible overhead kick second, were the talk of the town after Real Madrid's win against Juventus but teammate Isco also deserves a hell of a lot of credit.

It's been quite the week for Spanish midfielder Isco. Just seven days before Real Madrid's Champions League game against Juventus the 25 year old was playing for Spain and scoring a hat-trick as they destroyed Argentina 6-1.

The match was particularly relevant for Isco as he revealed he didn't have the confidence at Real to replicate his Spain form saying, "In Madrid I don't have the confidence a player needs. The matches with the national team give me life. Here I have the confidence of the coach.

"I want to show that I'm a good player. Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me. Maybe I'm the problem in Madrid. I don't know how to win Zidane's confidence."

Well it seems that it doesn't take the former Malaga midfielder too long to prove he's confident. He started the game against Juventus and proved just how confident he can be with an impressive 100% passing rate.

To prove how confident he is in the player after the match Zidane gave a glowing assessment of his performance, saying, "Isco put in a big performance and I'm delighted for him. He's got real character and is a player who always wants to play. He did a great job in between the lines."

The parallels with last season are strange with Isco breaking into the first team around this time last season and Gareth Bale being unable to remove him when he came back from injury in time for the Champions League final.

For fans of clubs who thought they had a chance of signing Isco this summer they might want to re-evaluate.

Perhaps they shouldn't have been so confident.
