The Juventus striker proved once again that he's a man for the big occasion as he headed home Miralem Pjanic's brilliant ball.

Cristiano Ronaldo won his first piece of silverware with Juventus as he headed home the opening goal in the Old Lady's 1-0 win over AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italia.

Playing the Supercoppa Italia in January in Saudi Arabia is basically playing the Community Shield half way through the season thousands of miles away from England but heck we're bang into the idea.

That's exactly what happened on Wednesday evening as two behemoths of Italian football faced off in the glorified friendly between last year's Serie A champions and the team they beat in the 2018 Coppa Italia final.

The match was played amongst the narrative of Gonzalo Higuain, who is on loan at Milan from Juventus, wanting to leave Italy to go to Chelsea and the former Real Madrid striker started on the bench.

However in typical fashion it was another former Real Madrid forward who stole all the headlines with Cristiano Ronaldo heading home the winner.

Ronaldo only joined Juve in the summer but it hasn't taken him long to adapt to Italian football and Miralem Pjanic's perfect ball was met by his head:

The Italian champions had to wait a moment as VAR checked to make sure that the goal wasn't offside but Ronaldo stayed onside before scoring.

However the video assistant referee wasn't done with controversy as it confirmed to the on field referee that Milan midfielder Franck Kessie deserved to be sent off for his challenge on Emre Can.

The Rossoneri had even more reason to feel aggrieved late on as Emre Can seemed to go through the side of Andrea Conti in the box. The ref waved play on and VAR didn't tell him to change his mind.

The win means Juventus hold the Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa titles and is actually the first time since 2015 that they've held the Supercoppa.

It's likely that the Turin side will once again win the league this season but can they get their hands on the Champions League title?
