"Let's be honest Alfie- no one wants the left-back's shirt." Liverpool's left-back was definitely wrong about this one.

Andy Robertson has won many plaudits on the pitch this season with his form for Liverpool in the second half of the season being absolutely brilliant and his off field brilliance has also earned him at least one fan too.

Robertson was the shining light an a poor Hull City side that were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2016/17 season but he was snapped up by Liverpool last summer.

He didn't start the season as the first choice left-back and at one point even the returning Alberto Moreno started ahead of him but by the end of the season and the Champions League final he was a sure fan favourite.

Part of that was due to his brilliant form and part of that was due to the time he found out about a young kid donating pocket money to charity and rewarded the Liverpool fan by sending him a signed Firmino shirt.

In the letter to young Alfie Radford the Scotsman wrote, "I saw on Twitter you did something very special for the food banks at Anfield last night.

"I remember from being your age just how important pocket money is and how there's hundreds of things you could have bought for yourself with it.

"...Anyway- the point of this letter. You've done something amazing for other people and expected nothing in return for it. Because of that I want to make sure it is rewarded.

"I've got one of Roberto Firmino's match shirts from this season and asked him to sign it for you, by way of a thank you for what you did for the food banks. Let's be honest Alfie- no one wants the left-back's shirt- which is why I got you Bobby's instead. Hope that's okay."

Well it seems that Robertson was actually wrong because Alfie's dad sent an update to Twitter and his son now has another Liverpool shirt, only this time it DOES have the left-backs name on it:

That's simply wonderful and exactly what football should be about.

We loved this story when Robertson sent the shirt and we love it even more now, fair play Alfie, Tom and Andrew.
