Brazil's Brilliant Trident Combine For Second Goal Against Chile

Brazil's Brilliant Trident Combine For Second Goal Against Chile

They are a real force...

Brazil ended a wonderful, all-conquering campaign with a routine 3-0 home win over Chile last night, with the victory preventing La Roja from reaching the World Cup.

Since Tite replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari at the helm, Brazil have won 11 games, drawn two and lost just once.

The well-travelled manager boasts a win percentage of 78.57 per cent and has seen his side score 32 times, conceding just four goals.

They strolled to the World Cup, finishing at the very top of the South American table on 41 points, ten points better off than Uruguay.

Given the Selecao had already sealed qualification to Russia along time ago, they had the chance to rest several of their big hitters for the visit of Chile last night, but a full-strength side was fielded, and Chile were completely blown away.

One such instance was the second goal, which made for glorious viewing. With the hosts already 1-0 up through Barcelona midfielder Paulinho, the terrific trio of Philippe Coutinho, Neymar and Gabriel Jesus all combined to great effect for the second goal of the game.

Feast your eyes...

For starters, you've got the delightfully arrowed pass from Coutinho to set Neymar free, and the PSG star takes the ball out of the sky with the deftest touch you will ever see.

He then races towards goal before laying it on a plate for Jesus to bag a tap-in and add to his tally for the national team. It's poetry in motion stuff, and the sort of combination play we will expect to see on a regular basis in Russia next summer.

Here's what Twitter made of the trident's sublime link-up:

Jesus would go on to strike again in the last minute of the game to finish the qualifying campaign as Brazil's top scorer, with seven. The team on the whole is looking mightily strong going into next year's tournament and in that frightening front three, they have three game-changers who make the difference.

Are they favourites to win the World Cup?
