On a day that ought to be all about Francesco Totti in the game between Roma and Genoa, 16-year old Pietro Pellegri fancied a piece of limelight.

The Genoa youngster notched the opening goal three minutes in at the Stadio Olimpico, getting in behind the Roma backline and sliding the ball past Wojciech Szczęsny before wheeling away in celebration.

The strike means he is now the youngest ever player to score in the top tier of Italian football, and it brought out several brilliant reactions and statistics on social media:

Remember the name!

The 'youngest goalscorer in Serie A' tag only changed hands yesterday when Juventus starlet Moise Kean scored a 90th minute winner in the Bianconeri's 2-1 victory over Bologna to sign off the domestic season.

To make you feel very old, Kean was born in 2000, while Pellegri, who made his debut as a 15-year old earlier this season, was born in 2001.

How dare he try and upstage Francesco Totti on his big day!

Meanwhile Roma made a swift response to going a goal down, with the prolific Edin Dzeko netting the equaliser
