Marco Verratti may not usually be mentioned in a list of the best midfielders in the world but his stats suggest that maybe we should start thinking of him in the top tier.
No one is doubting that the PSG midfielder is a very good player but he's not usually thought of in the same moments as the likes of N'Golo Kante, Kevin de Bruyne, Toni Kroos or even Paul Pogba.
However Stats Bomb's graph shows just how good he is both offensively and defensively, making him the complete midfielder.

The 26-year-old finished last season with an impressive passing success rate of 91%, that does leave him behind the likes of Kroos and Thiago Alcantara in the passing stats but still ahead of Busquets and Pogba.
Verratti was also involved in the build up play of 1.2 goals a game, it probably helps playing for PSG in Ligue 1 when it comes to that.
The Italian was also assisting 0.2 goals-a-game for the Ligue 1 winners last season, which isn't bad considering he plays deeper than many playmakers.
Whilst the former Pescara man is known for being consistently good with the ball at his feet but it seems that he's also pretty solid when it's at someone else's feet too.

The midfield maestro makes 4.71 tackles every game according to the 'Possession Adjusted Tackles' stat, which takes into account the fact a player won't make as many tackles if his team always have the ball.
Verratti does make just 1.25 interceptions per match and 1.1 turnovers per match, which is closer to the average than most of his stats, but it still shows how consistent he is compared to most in his position.
Verratti has been playing for PSG since the summer of 2012, moving from Serie A for €12 million, and has become an integral part of their success.

He's won six league titles, four Coup de France trophies and five Coupe de la Ligues with the club in 277 appearances.
The Italian has been linked with Barcelona in the past but there hasn't been any rumours linking him with a move away from the Parc des Princes this summer.
