How Edinson Cavani Has Done Against Premier League Teams

Edinson Cavani joined Manchester United on Monday night and the big question will be whether the 33-year-old can prove himself in the Premier League.

The Uruguayan striker might not have been what United fans wanted or expected, and after Sunday not really what the team needed, but it's who they've ended up with.

PSG's all time top scorer hasn't played a game in seven months but he'll be expected to hit the ground running when United play against Newcastle United in 11 days time.

Fortunately he does have some experience against English clubs, coming up against them in the Champions League, and scored a few times, as per Planet Football.

The Uruguayan has played against Chelsea most, coming up against them on eight occasions, scoring three goals and grabbing two assists.

He's also bagged three goals against Manchester City, although no assists, with them coming in just the four appearances.

The former Napoli striker has a 100% record against Arsenal, scoring two in two, with both games also ending in victory for the striker.

Against Liverpool he has his worst record with just two assists in four games, though he does have a win and a draw against the Premier League champions in that time.

Cavani even played against his new side on one occasion but that was coming on in the 95th minute of PSG's 3-1 loss at the Parc des Princes in 2019, the game that essentially secured Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's permanent contract at Old Trafford.

Cavani will have a chance to get on the scoresheet in a Manchester United vs PSG match fairly soon, after the two sides were drawn together in the Champions League.

He will return to the Paris on October 20th, on Matchday One, before United play hosts to Thomas Tuchel's side on December 2nd, the penultimate group game.

Cavani's record in continental competitions in total has seen him score 49 times in 81 appearances and he also has 259 league goals in 438 appearances, United will be hoping he can continue in similar fashion.
