Manchester United fans will be very happy to see how Bruno Fernandes did against Liverpool in pre season, and will be hoping he can replicate the form in the Premier League.

Ed Woodward and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally got their man on Thursday with the confirmation that Fernandes had finally signed from Sporting, after being linked with him since last January.

The midfielder comes with a good reputation from Portugal but as always the question will be can he transfer it to life in England? Well he had a trial run at Premier League opposition in the summer against Liverpool and he ended with a goal and an assist in the game.

The game may have been a friendly but Sporting were still up against a pretty strong version of Jurgen Klopp's team which included starts for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgin van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

Fernandes opened the scoring with a strike from 35 yards out and then picked up the assist for the teams second, and equaliser for Wendel to make it 2-2.

The former Udinese midfielder was instrumental in the middle of the pitch for the Portuguese side and was their main outlet for creativity, as well as being a leader on the pitch.

Of course it's too early to tell how the 25-year-old will do in England's top tier and it was only a friendly but doing well against a side who barely anyone seems to have troubled this season isn't a bad start.

In Portugal this campaign the former Sampdoria player has scored eight goals in 17 league appearances with seven assists also to his name.

In Europe he's added another five goals in five games in the Europa League with three assists in that time to suggest he could make the impact United need.

Without Paul Pogba for much of the season, due to injuries, Solskjaer's side have been reliant on the likes of Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira to provide attacking intent from midfield.

Between them the pair have scored one goal in the league all season, coming from Pereira, and Fernandes will surely improve on that on his own in the second half of the season.
