Sir Alex Ferguson's Reaction To Seeing His 80th Birthday Banner In The Crowd Is So Wholesome

Things you love to see.

Manchester United fans paid tribute to their former boss by unveiling a huge banner ahead of his 80th birthday - and Sir Alex Ferguson's reaction was one of the most wholesome moments of the year.

The Scot, who is regarded by many as one of the greatest managers of all time, provided nearly three decades worth of unprecedented success at United, picking up 38 trophies during a historic spell.

He won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League trophies in that time, turning the club's fortunes around when he took over in 1986.

Eight years after stepping down as Manchester United manager, Ferguson rarely misses a home game at Old Trafford alongside his wife Cathy.

And ahead of Thursday night's Premier League clash against Burnley, the legendary boss was honoured with his own banner, a day before turning 80.

It was a touch of class from the United faithful and as the banner moved across the Stretford End, a delighted Sir Alex got out his phone and snapped a picture.

United gave Ferguson an early birthday present in the form of a 3-1 win against Burnley on Thursday night.

First half goals from Scott McTominay, Ben Mee [OG] and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed an important three points at Old Trafford as the Reds try and break into the top four.

Ralf Rangnick was happy with his team's performance, especially in the first half.

"Was the first half the best since came to club? I would say offensively yes." he said. "Whenever we had the ball in their half we did the things we intended to do, finding the right spots and spaces, taking on players in one on one situations."
