Roman Abramovich To 'Pull The Plug' On Huge Transfer For Chelsea, Furious With One Rival European Club

Roman Abramovich To 'Pull The Plug' On Huge Transfer For Chelsea, Furious With One Rival European Club

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is 'fuming' with Real Madrid's bid to sign Antonio Rudiger, who is also linked with Bayern Munich and PSG.

A furious Roman Abramovich is ready to call off Eden Hazard’s Chelsea homecoming after Real Madrid stepped up their efforts to land Antonio Rudiger, according to stunning reports in Spain.

Rudiger is out of contract at the end of the season and linked with a summer exit from Stamford Bridge, despite remaining a key part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

The 28-year-old German centre-back is free to speak with clubs outside of England from January and sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a potential summer move.

Madrid are considered the favourites to land Rudiger on a free transfer and are prepared to offer him an eye-watering salary -- matching the wages of Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt.

Rudiger has also attracted interest from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, with Chelsea pushing for the Blues defender to sign a new deal.

Sahr Senesie, who is Rudiger’s brother and agent, has been locked in talks with Madrid’s hierarchy over the Chelsea star’s future.

El Nacional (via The Daily Mail) now reports that Abramovich is ‘fuming with Madrid’ over the Rudiger transfer saga and is now prepared to ‘pull the plug’ on Hazard’s return as a result.

Hazard has been plagued with injuries since his move to Madrid in 2019 and is no longer considered part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans going forward.

Los Blancos splashed out an initial £89m to land the 30-year-old Belgian winger, with a fee that could potentially exceed £150m through add-ons.

Hazard, who is under contract until 2024, has only managed to score five times and pick up nine assists in 55 appearances at Madrid.
