Tony Bellew Has A Go At Mo Salah Over Champions League Final Injury

The boxer isn't impressed that the Liverpool forward went off with an injury against Real Madrid just 31 minutes into the game.

For most people seeing Mo Salah going off in the Champions League final was quite a sad moment, whether they were a Liverpool fan or a neutral it wasn't a nice sight. Everton fan Tony Bellew was less sympathetic.

The Champions League final was meant to be Salah vs Cristiano Ronaldo but we got less than half an hour of the Egyptian before a controversial clash with Sergio Ramos sae him come off injured.

What happened after that has been discussed more than is worth talking about one game but before then Liverpool were looking the better team and Salah was definitely worrying Los Blancos' defence.

Then there was that coming together that was either shithousery by Ramos, a calculated moment of genius, Salah's punishment for breaking his fast or a bit of an accident.

Salah walked off, clearly upset, and replaced by Adam Lallana but one man who thought he should have stayed on was boxer and Everton fan Tony Bellew.

Writing in his Metro column the 35 year old said:

"It's unbelievable Vasyl Lomachenko tore his shoulder against Jorge Linares and continued fighting for another eight rounds.

"Mohamed Salah got a bruise on his shoulder and went off in the biggest game of his life."

"That's no disrespect to Salah, he's been the best player in the world this year. He should win the Ballon D'Or. But ultimately, when you're going into the biggest game of your life the only way you should be coming off that pitch is on a stretcher.

"Strap it up, stick a needle in it, some painkillers - do whatever needs to be done because if Salah stays on that pitch Liverpool have a 25 per cent more chance of winning that game."

You maybe see where Bellew is coming from, if you've got any chance of carrying on in the biggest game of your career then surely you do it.

On the flipside to that though if a boxer gets an injury and decides to quit then being labelled a quitter is much more damaging to his career than a player coming off injured.

Football is also a team game so one man being injured isn't supposed to affect you quite as much as Salah's injury clearly did for Jurgen Klopp side's chance of beating Real.

Unfortunately for Liverpool their bench just wasn't that strong and Adam Lallana didn't have much impact on the game.

Should Salah have found a way to carry on?
