Liverpool fans must have been suffering from deja vu after last night's draw with Spartak Moscow in the Champions League. But it seems that their opposition got help from a surprising source.

Anyone filing a match report on Liverpool right now might as well have a pre-written template talking about how the Reds were the dominant team, couldn't take their chances and inevitably dropped points, usually through a mistake of sorts.

The season started in that manner with Liverpool dropping points against Watford in a 3-3 draw but by the end of August it looked like a different story with a 4-0 win over Arsenal. Then came the international window.

This month the Anfield side have one win as they've lost to Manchester City in the Premier League, Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, drawn with Burnley in the league and against Sevilla in the Champions League, only beating Leicester in the league.

Last night was the usual for Klopp's side as drew 1-1 with Spartak Moscow in the Champions League Group Stage despite having 64% of possession and having 16 shots to their opponents four. Before the match Spartak boss Massimo Carrera revealed he spoke to Antonio Conte about Liverpool:

"I did call him [Antonio Conte] the other day but it's not just Liverpool we discussed. We talked about our families, private matters and all that. Liverpool were also mentioned, of course.

"No need to point out any of the players - all of them are of exceptional quality. But it doesn't change anything, our task is to neutralise them all and play to our strengths."

Carrera played with the Blues boss at Juventus and later when the Chelsea boss was in charge of the Old Lady and Italian national team he was one of Conte's assistants.

Philippe Coutinho's goal secured a point for Liverpool and they are now second in their group. Sevilla have four points after their win over Maribor last night followed their draw with Liverpool last time out.

Klopp will be hoping no one else is picking up tips from his former opponents otherwise that deja vu might continue.
