Jan Vertonghen Mocks Arsenal For Missing Out On Top Four After Brighton Draw

Jan Vertonghen Mocks Arsenal For Missing Out On Top Four After Brighton Draw

Jan Vertonghen has taken a cheeky swipe at Arsenal after the Gunners were dealt a major blow of finishing in the top four.

Of course, the Gunners could still finish in the Premier League's top four if they win big in their next match and Tottenham Hotspur concede a fair few, but it would seem, for now at least, that Spurs will finish above them in the league.

So, what a better way to celebrate than poke fun at the rival team, right?

Well, that's what Vertonghen did when he took to Twitter to post a simple tweet: "I'll take that."

Manchester United miss out on Champions League football after being held to a 1-1 draw to Huddersfield Town, while Brighton and Hove Albion were able to secure a 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking of the Emirates, Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey broke down in tears after he bid farewell to the club following the match.

Champions League football could still be on the table for Arsenal, mainly for the fact that they are in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Gunners boss Unai Emery admitted that his side's focus had now shifted to winning the competition.

"We knew it was going to be difficult, but our focus is now the Europa League," he told BBC Sport.

"We have the opportunity in the Europa League to do something important and we will try and do that."

The former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain manager also said that it was difficult to break through the Brighton defence.

"We knew it was going to be difficult, but at 1-0 we needed to get the second goal. In the 90 minutes we controlled the match and, after the first goal, we tried to get the second," he explained.

"After their goal, we created more chances to score but they defended very well, they are very strong defensively and they showed us that today."

Will Arsenal win the Europa League?
