There are few rivalries in football more intense than the ones between Rangers and Celtic. One Rangers fan took it to a new level when he bumped into fans of his club's rivals when in Germany.

The Old Firm is one of the most famous and heated rivalries in sport. Nothing comes close to it in England and maybe only the Clasico gets close in Europe with far more than just a sporting or geographical rivalry on the line.

Scottish football has been ruled by both clubs for the past few decades, although the last seven years have been dominated by the Hoops, and the added element of religion makes it an even fiercer rivalry.

The two sides are both in Europe this season. Celtic missed out on the Champions League in the play offs but dropped down to the Europa League whilst the 'Gers' are in Europe's second competition too.

Brendan Rodgers' side beat Rosenborg 1-0 in their opening game thanks to a late winner but were on the wrong side of a 3-1 beating against Red Bull Salzburg last time out.

On Thursday night they face Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in Germany and one Rangers fan happened to bump into the Celtic fans in a German hotel.

He posted on Twitter to claim he'd been winding them up in a bar with his music blaring out of the window:

You can't imagine fans of the Hoops would have been too happy having paid to travel to Germany and have a nice time away from Rangers fans only to be met by songs from their rivals.

The two clubs could move a step closer to another meeting later this week. After both sides have played their Europa League fixtures they head back to Scotland ahead of Sunday's League Cup semi finals.

Rangers are doing even better in the Europa League this season. They got a surprise draw against Villareal, drawing 2-2 in their opening fixture, before beating Rapid Wien 3-1 at home last time out.

Tonight they face Spartak Moscow and if anyone's looking for one of their fans he's apparently in Germany annoying Celtic fans.
