Pep Guardiola Was Furious At Raheem Sterling's Showboating

The Manchester City forward got into a heated debate with Juan Mata at the end of the Manchester derby.

Raheem Sterling and Manchester City put on a fantastic display in the Manchester derby but for the England winger it ended on a sour note with his manager not too happy with his showboating.

There wasn't much Manchester City didn't do well in Sunday's derby against Manchester United. Pretty much from start to finish the Premier League champions dominated the match and but for a short five minute spell they never looked like not winning.

United had nothing going forward and only managed to have one shot on target and that was the Anthony Martial penalty that made the game 2-1. City were soon back to a two goal lead through Ilkay Gundogan and the game was well and truly over.

City saw out the game with the kind of ease normally saved for whoever it is actually steals sweets off small children, although I assume that's more difficult than the saying actually gives light to.

The only moment of 'drama' that came late in the game was Juan Mata's confrontation of Raheem Sterling after the winger was seen to be showboating with a few stepovers.

And it seems Pep Guardiola wasn't impressed with Sterling either, telling reporters after the match:

"I like a lot when he [Raheem] played [but] the best way to defend a result is to keep the ball.

"He made some movements with the legs, we can avoid it but he is young, he can improve."

And the City boss was seen giving his player a stern talking to after the match:

Leroy Sane, Phil Foden and Sterling had been passing the ball around very comfortably near United's corner to see the game out when the former Liverpool winger decided to throw in a few step overs.

When the ball went out for a goal kick Mata approached him to tell the opposition forward what he thought of the showboating.

Ultimately it was a pointless argument and probably just showed the Spaniards frustration that his side weren't able to make an impact on the match.

The distance between the two sides was very telling and the Premier League table shows it with the Red Devils languishing 12 points behind the league leaders.
