Gary Neville And Roy Keane Criticise Jesse Lingard Ahead of Liverpool Match

The Manchester United midfielder's off field actions this week caused the two former players, turned pundits, to be annoyed.

Jesse Lingard was roundly criticised in the Sky Sports studio by Roy Keane and Gary Neville. Ahead of Manchester United's game against Liverpool they weren't happy with the timing of his off field interests.

It's not an easy time to be a Manchester United player right now. The football isn't very good, the form isn't very good and literally everyone wants to remind you how bad everything is, even your manager.

Jose Mourinho hasn't exactly been glowing in his assessment of his players this season, which in some ways is fair, and social media is also full of criticism as the Red Devils sit outside the top four and inconsistent at best.

On Sunday United face Liverpool with the Reds having the potential to go back top if they win against their fierce rivals, something United fans would absolutely hate.

This week's been quite the week for Jesse Lingard with his birthday and the launch of a clothing range coming ahead of the big game.

But the timing of the launch didn't go down well at all in the Sky Sports studio at Anfield ahead of the game.

In the 'box' were two United legends in the shape of Gary Neville and Roy Keane. Neville wasn't happy with the timing, urging Lingard to choose a different time, whilst Keane just thinks the 26 year old's life should be on hold till after his football career.

Of course the best bit about the exchange between the two former United players is Keane's insistence that Lingard is a 'youngster' still 'learning his trade,' which isn't how you'd normally refer to a player in their mid 20s.

Paul Pogba's decision to celebrate his friend's birthday this week, in the form of a video that took like a minute to record, seemed to irk people as well for some reason.

Sure, United might be struggling but it's the guy's birthday for god's sake!
