Marouane Fellaini Hits Back At Jamie Carragher Criticism
Marouane Fellaini may be on the high of scoring for Manchester United but the Belgian midfielder has decided to take a swipe at Jamie Carragher, but is it even the right Jamie?
Fellaini's popularity amongst fans of Manchester United fans sways like a pendulum in the sky going from the most hated man inside Old Trafford to the player all fans loved in the swing of his head.
Often the biggest issue for the former Everton man is that he's the biggest frustration of the recent era and a relative lack of success for the Red Devils in a post Fergie world. A flop of signing who epitomises many of the side's problems.
Of course though Fellaini does bring moments of joy to his side and he grabbed one of those on Sunday. As pundits were questioning whether he should have come on he shut them up by heading United's winner against Arsenal in Arsene Wenger's last visit to Old Trafford.
Fellaini spoke to French magazine Sport/Foot, as reported by Sports Witness, and was asked about what he felt about pundits trashing him for being a 'brutal footballer' with Jamie Carragher being cited as one of those and the 30 year old hit back, saying:
"How can someone like Jamie Carragher dare to question me? The guy spat from his car on a girl after a Manchester-Liverpool match. You know, critics help you progress, you end up working more, you want to show them they are wrong."
Of course the former Liverpool defender isn't even on the air right now after the incident in which he was videoed by a United fan whilst driving on the motorway. The fan goaded 'Carra' who responded by spitting.
Worst still the man who aimed most criticism at the weekend was another former Liverpool Jamie. Midfielder turned pundit Redknapp questioned why Fellaini had come on instead of Juan Mata.
It was the former Evertonian who had the last laugh of course when he scored the stoppage time winner to make it very unlikely that the Reds will catch their heated rivals to second place in the Premier League.
Fellaini's contract is up at the end of the season and he's been linked with a move away from the Premier League and it'll be interesting to see if United can keep hold of him.
