Wayne Rooney Vs Francesco Totti Debate Causes Football Twitter Meltdown
Published

Football fans from England and Italy are split on their love for two icons from their countries in the shape of Wayne Rooney and Francesco Totti.
The rivalry between England and Italy is notching up more and more as we get closer to Sunday's Euro 2020 final at Wembley.
Italian press have gone as far as saying that England only made the final because of a UEFA conspiracy around Boris Johnson and the failed European Super League.
However nothing will ramp up the rivalry as much as a debate between fans about which player was better out of two icons of each country.
The Euro 2020 account did a poll about whether Rooney or Totti was the better player and it's looking very tight!

There's is no doubt that the two players were both world class during their time in the game and there's arguments to be made for both men.
Rooney is England and Manchester United's all time top goalscorer, scored 363 career goals and won a litany of trophies in the Premier League with United, including five league titles and one Champions League trophy.
Totti won the World Cup with Italy and helped Roma capture an unexpected Serie A title in 2001 in a time when the Italian top tier was the best league in the world, stayed loyal to the Giallorossi despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid and continued to be important to his team well into his mid 30s.
However, despite obvious arguments for both men, Football Twitter did its thing and made you sound like an idiot whoever you thought was the better player, when in reality you'd only be an idiot for not recognising how brilliant both men were!

Rooney has 3 40+ G/A seasons, Totti has 1, Rooney is so clear in every single way. If we use team achievements he is so extraordinarily clear too. Totti has 1 league title, Rooney has 5. Totti isn't even Italy's all time scorer
Anybody who says Rooney needs their head testing!

It's not even close! 5 league titles, four FA cups, and the UCL?!?! Vs someone with one one league title and got subbed off after 60' in the WC final which his team barely beat 10 man France??? :joy: :sob: pic.twitter.com/Irrw3MHbdt

at 35 years old Francesco Totti had 12 goals and 12 assists for top flight AS Roma.
at 35 years old Wayne Rooney is sitting at home after 2 seasons at tier 2 Derby County and 2 seasons at MLS. https://t.co/SWnAbtSWuq
Totti was a fabulous player, capable of the truly incredible... but Rooney at his best was a monster...

Totti managed by Sir Alex Ferguson might have been something else, but I would go for Rooney.
They are asking based on international ability.

Or at least that's what I am making off, of.
Totti was better on the international stage.
Rooney was better on the club stage.
For anyone who voted for Wayne Rooney, listen.

I completely understand. You haven't actually seen Totti play live.
It's OK.
Like you guys, I too, when I was still an innocent child, preferred candies over sex.
This disrespect to Totti

Get it up you nostalgia merchants https://t.co/UVkwZABnDB
Totti is so clear, it's not even close. If you voted Rooney, do yourself a favour and watch another sport. https://t.co/3oyBA2exj4
