Leeds United Fans Voted The Angriest In English Football
Marcelo Bielsa captured the headlines on Wednesday night by proving that it didn't matter whether or not he spies on other teams and whilst Leeds United fans were loving that they aren't usually the happiest bunch.
Leeds United supporters have been voted the angriest in football, beating the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in an online poll.
The Championship side came out on top with 36% of the vote, while Liverpool came in second with 29%.
Manchester United fans came in third with 18% while Arsenal came in last place with 17%, which may surprise a few considering the antics of ArsenalFanTV in recent years.
Over 10,000 people voted in the SPORTbible survey conducted on Thursday afternoon. Do you agree with the overall standings? Any teams missing from the list?
Last year, Leeds United fans came third in England for most fan arrests with 61, while only West Ham and Birmingham City supporters being arrested more often throughout the season.
A total of nine fans were given banning orders last season, which was up from five the previous season, according to Leeds Live.
Jon Howe of the Leeds United Supporters Trust said that fans have come along way since the hooliganism days of the 1980's and 90's.
"The figures will be such a small percentage of the total number of fans that we have at matches. It is nothing like the things you saw in the 1980s and 1990s, we're a million miles away from that now."
"Matches at Elland Road are a totally different atmosphere to away games, you see a lot of families at Elland Road.
"When travelling to matches you sometimes see anti-social behaviour and a lot of the time alcohol is involved.
"But you've got to remember we take around 4,000, 5,000 fans to away games."
A number of Leeds fans have been in the news for all the wrong reasons of late.
A fan who dressed as Jimmy Saville to a recent away game has been labelled "shameful and "sickening".
In the clip filmed at Blackburn's Ewood Park stadium on October 20, the fan is lifted on another supporter's shoulders, wearing a blue shellsuit, pink glasses and a blonde wig, as he smokes Saville's trademark cigar.
Leeds fans proceed to point at the man and sing: "He's one of our own, he's one of own, Jimmy Saville, he's one of our own." while the man holds his hands in the air.
The footage has caused outrage, with many slamming the actions of those in the clip.
"I've been a Leeds supporter all my life but if Jimmy Savile is 'one of our own', then I no longer want to be." said one fan.
While another wrote: "They need to consider the hundreds, including 28 children under 10 years old, whose lives were ruined by that b**tard."
