Liverpool and Manchester United meet in the Premier League tomorrow but only one side looks to have any chance of winning silverware this season. A lack of trophies so far clearly doesn't bother Jurgen Klopp.

When Sir Alex Ferguson took over at Manchester United his main task was to knock Liverpool 'off their perch' and he did so with his 13 Premier League titles making United the most successful side in English football history.

Now though it looks like the Reds will be most likely to add to their English titles. The Merseyside club might now have won the league title in the Premier League era but they sit top of the table ahead of this weekend's football. So far though Klopp has yet to win any silverware at Anfield and Mourinho seemed to take aim at that in the week, saying, "I think trophies matter, it matters, especially when you have the potential to fight for trophies and especially when you clearly say the objective is to win the trophy... I think Jurgen told already they want to win the Premier League, is their objective, is to win the Premier League."

Now Klopp has responded to that apparent jibe, saying, "Do I have to? Do I have to win it?

"People might remember that but what I have to do is make the best of the things the club is offering me - that is what I believe in.

"If people say the Champions League campaign last season was not a success because we didn't win the final then I cannot change that. Was it the successful finish? No, but the ride was brilliant.

"I enjoyed it a lot. Going to the final was fantastic but in life - in all departments of life including your job - if only the best counts and effort doesn't count then life is s***.

"You can do whatever you want but if I'm not as smart as Einstein or whatever, I can't try a little bit? I will never be him.

"I love the challenge. Make the best of it. That is how I understand life, I learned it a little bit in football. In the end other people have to judge that."

Of course right now United might have had more recent taste of silverware, winning the League Cup and Europa League under Mourinho, but most Red Devils fans would happily swap places with their fierce rivals.

Will Klopp get his hands on a trophy this season?
