Liverpool's players were given immense and deserved praise after they beat Barcelona 4-0 to make it through to the Champions League final on Tuesday but Jose Mourinho reserved all his praise for former rival Jurgen Klopp.

Football fans aren't going to forget May 7th 2019 in a hurry, and rightly they aren't going to be allowed to forget, with Liverpool's comeback against Barcelona in the Champions League going down in history of one of football's best turnarounds.

It was the second year in a row that Barcelona had blown a three goal advantage in the Champions League, after last year being knocked out of the quarter finals by Roma after a 4-1 home win.

For Liverpool it wasn't the first time that Anfield has put together a famous night in Europe but it might have been the best of the lot.

Rightly the players were being praised for their effort and performance on Tuesday night but Jose Mourinho decided to focus on Jurgen Klopp and claimed the German was the reason for the comeback:

It's extremely high praise from the former Manchester United manager, whose loss to the former Borussia Dortmund boss earlier this season ended his time at Old Trafford, but he's absolutely spot on.

Klopp had said that he didn't think the comeback was possible apart from with his group of players and they certainly backed up their manager's praise.

In the opposite dug out though things were going extremely wrong and, as full of praise for Mourinho was for Liverpool, he buried Barcelona and Ernesto Valverde, saying, "That 4th goal, if you see that in an Under 14 or Under 15 match you would say the kids have no mentality to play football. To concede that goal really shows you a state of mind!

"How to justify that is very difficult. I'd like to see Valverde explain that."

You know it's a strange and incredible night of football when it leads to Mourinho praising a rival manager and Liverpool, although it's all very deserved.
