Gerard Pique And Sergio Ramos Swap Digs After Spain Win

Pique and Ramos will probably never get on!

You don't have to like everyone you work with but it probably helps to not bad mouth them to the press just after you've finished work, even if it will be a while before you're working with them again. Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos just couldn't help themselves though.

Gerard Pique is a World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain. He was a very important part of those tournament wins as Spain became the first team to win three major tournaments in a row, discounting Uruguay's Olympic victories before the first World Cup.

For that you'd have thought that Shakira's other half would be loved in his home country, lord knows what we'd let anyone who did the same in England do these days.

But instead Pique is a man who has been booed in most of the Spanish cities he's visited in a Spain shirt, even if the people of Barcelona generally love him, and that's because of his feud with Real Madrid and his support of an independent Catalonia.

After last night's match against France, in which Spain were on the better end of two video refereeing decisions, the centre back couldn't help but have a pop at Los Blancos, as reported by Marca, joking that the decisions were in their favour "down to me wearing white. It worked really well and I think it'd be a good idea to have VAR in La Liga. We've been asking for it for some time."

The former Manchester United defender then fully ripped into Madrid and their 'values': "I don't like the values Real Madrid transmit, although there are players there I really appreciate with and am friends with. I don't doubt Raul's madridismo and I'd never work at Real Madrid.

"What I don't like about Real Madrid is how those in the box seats pull the strings.I don't like what they transmit, as a club, what do you want me to tell you. Almost all of them are friends and I can play cards with them but we know how this works."

Real Madrid captain Ramos wasn't having any of it though replying, "What Pique says won't change the values, our badge, our history or our titles. What he says will provoke headlines and sell newspapers but we live off of that. In every box seat strings are pulled, but if anything, they [Barcelona] should in general have more to be quiet about then we do."

And Ramos had his own take on Pique being in a white shirt, "The dressing room laughed at that, the white shirt looks better on him and he doesn't know how to react to that."Years ago we got our relationship back on track and it is magnificent - the group comes first."

Finally Pique thought it was hypocritical of people to criticise the 'dodgy' decisions that led to them winning 6-1 against PSG:

These two will never get on!
