Virgil Van Dijk Did Not Appreciate Vincent Kompany's Joke At Full Time

The Manchester City captain wanted to have a chat with the Liverpool centre back after the match but Van Dijk was having none of it.

Liverpool fans might have been annoyed at the result of last night's huge match with Manchester City, especially after two controversial moments went against them, but they found a silver lining with Virgil van Dijk's reaction to Vincent Kompany at full time.

Before kick off people hypothesised that a Liverpool win would have ended the title race in January. There may be a long time left in the season but being 10 points clear of City with no return fixture to come and the Reds still undefeated would have seemed a long way back.

City won 2-1 so the debate was over sooner than it began, the gap is now just four points and absolutely anything can happen between now and the middle of May, title race definitely still on.

It might have been different had it not been for two huge moments. First John Stones goal line clearance, that nutmegged Mo Salah, couldn't have been much closer to going over without being a goal.

The bigger moment of controversy came from Vincent Kompany's foul on Salah which drew a yellow card but was perhaps lucky to not end with an early bath for the City captain.

With the win in the bag and having avoided the red card Kompany was clearly in the mood to joke with Virgil van Dijk at full time but the Liverpool defender wasn't interested in friendly banter:

And with little else to be too happy about after last night fans of Jurgen Klopp's side were very happy that their centre back didn't get involved with any chit chat.

Now definitely isn't the time for joking around, there's a Premier League title to win but will it be City or Liverpool cracking the smiles at the end of the season?
