Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Will Evict Virgil Van Dijk If He Gets Permanent Job

The Manchester United manager is currently renting out his Cheshire home to the Liverpool defender but that could soon change.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer joked that he would kick out the tenant living in his house, but it could soon become reality, leaving Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk without a home.

It's fair to say that when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was given the interim job at Old Trafford back in December no one could have imagined that he'd be near the discussion for who the long term replacement would be for Jose Mourinho come the summer.

Solskjaer's initial role was to come in, steady the ship, make everything seem a bit more fun at the club and results didn't matter too much, after all United couldn't make the top four.

Now victory over Arsenal on Saturday would see them go level on points with third place Spurs and imagining the Norwegian not getting the full time role in the summer seems madness.

Solskjaer's seemingly inevitable appointment causes problems for Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk. The centre back is currently renting his Cheshire home from the United boss.

The 46 year old struggled to sell his house after leaving the north west but the Dutch defender started renting the house when he moved from Southampton to Liverpool.

Asked about whether he'd spoken to the defender about the living arrangement Solskjaer joked, 'Yeah, he's evicted,' but according to the Mirror that joke could become more serious if and when Solskjaer gets the job permanently.

Where United managers live has become quite a big topic in recent years. Despite being at Old Trafford for two and a half years Jose Mourinho didn't buy or rent a place in Manchester and instead stayed at the Lowry Hotel the entire time.

Solskjaer also moved into the hotel when he came back to Manchester as the house that he lived in during his playing career, and subsequent coaching time at United initially, was being lived in by his new tenant.

Van Dijk will be hoping that when he moves out it's with a Premier League medal. The Liverpool defender and his teammates have the chance to reduce Manchester City's lead at the top of the table back to one point when they face Burnley on Sunday.

The last thing the former Celtic defender needs to be thinking about right now is moving home, but it's likely he'll be calling a moving van in the summer.
