Dejan Lovren Reveals Why He's Changed His Phone Number For The Weekend

Dejan Lovren often finds himself as the scapegoat to Liverpool's problems and the centre back will be hoping he doesn't need to leave his phone off after Saturday's game, he's explained why that phone has been changed ahead of the match.

There won't be too many neutrals hoping that the Liverpool vs Manchester United match on Saturday afternoon goes off without loads on incident and Dejan Lovren certainly isn't a neutral but he will be hoping he can stay out of the headlines for the wrong reason.

Things haven't gone too swimmingly for the Croatian centre back since his move from Southampton a couple of seasons ago and with the Reds ever increasing defensive issues he often finds himself at the centre of the blame.

And if Lovren is hoping to avoid any social media storms about his performances this weekend then he's going to have to come up with the goods against Romelu Lukaku with the Belgian having bagged eight goals in eight games for United this season.

Speaking to Football Focus the 28 year-old defender revealed that it's not the fear of social media that has forced him to change his phone number in the build up to the big match, saying:

"People talk straight away when they find out the fixtures at the beginning of the season. 'Ah we've got Man United in October.'

"Especially the last ten days, people just talk about this game and the demand for tickets is crazy. I wish I could give them away to everyone but it's not possible.

"More than 20 [he revealed when asked how many calls he gets for tickets]. To be honest, I changed my number because of that but it's something that when you play football, you want to play these games."

Many might have expected Lovren to be replaced in Liverpool's first team this summer as Jurgen Klopp stalked Virgil van Dijk but the Saints man didn't join his former colleague.

Lovren has started four Premier League games for a defence that has conceded the joint third most goals in the league so far this season.
