Alexis Sanchez isn't at the World Cup but he's clearly taking a very keen interest in the tournament in Russia. The Manchester United forward has got his eye on one team mate in particular and hopes he wins it.

It's been quite weird having a World Cup without Chile, Netherlands, Italy or USA but we've managed to get over it considering how entertaining it's been without them all.

At this last World Cup Netherlands made the semi-finals and also gave us the moment that Louis van Gaal substituted a goalkeeper just for a penalty shoot-out.

Italy didn't really do much in Brazil but at least we saw Raheem Sterling's pretend goal and Giorgio Chiellini bitten in their matches and USA gave us the "I believe that we will win" chant.

Chile gave us a shock win over Spain and an entertaining last 16 loss to Brazil on penalties that they came close to winning. The South Americans also subsequently won back-to-back Copa Americas.

Out of all those teams then it's probably weirdest that Chile didn't manage to make it to Russia, meaning that we're missing Alexis Sanchez at the tournament.

Speaking to Fox Sports he revealed which of his Manchester United teammates he wanted to see lift the World Cup, saying:

"I feel angry not to go, we could have been there, but I want Belgium to be world champion for my friend Lukaku.

"He is fine, on fire, I hope he is the World Cup top goalscorer.

"We are talking every day on WhatsApp, we go everywhere together [in England], we talk about what the team lacks.

"We get along very well. I think Belgium will be world champion."

Lukaku has been in great form scoring four goals in two games, being the first player to score braces in back-to-back World Cup games since Diego Maradona.

He sat out of the England game with an injury but Belgium, who only reached the quarters four years ago, have a great chance to at least equal that against Japan.

Talking about his own country's future the former Arsenal player said, "We are not Brazil or Argentina, they have 50 players, we are Chile and it is the reality that until now there is not much spare.

"We have to put things aside and solve them, it's not a Bravo, a Vidal or an Alexis Sanchez, we have to put things aside and build."
