Soccer Saturday Pundits Clearly Don't Fancy One Of The Top Six

The Premier League is back and the men who grace our televisions every Saturday have made their predictions on the season ahead.

A summer of wondering when the hell our beloved Premier League would be back is finally over! One night earlier than the usual start of Saturday afternoon Arsenal and Leicester will kick us off but who do the Soccer Saturday boys think will win the league?

What have you been doing with your summer? Aside from pretending you care about the Confederations Cup, European u21 Championships or the International Challenge Cup of course.

There's been endless transfer stories to keep us going obviously but nothing can get near competing with the week in, week out, of the actual football season and after the Football League kicked us off last weekend it's time for the Premier League to start.

With Hartlepool relegated we're going to hear a lot more about the non leagues this season. Image: Sky Sports.

It's a pretty open title race this season, many are predicting it to be a fight between Manchester City and Manchester United but that was the case this time last year and Chelsea virtually walked away with it from October onwards.

The return of the Premier League also means the return of lazy Saturday afternoons watching Jeff Stelling and the boys talk us through the matches and the lads have been giving their predictions on Sky Sports and there's one top six side none of them fancy.

Top four predictions:

Paul Merson- Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Phil Thompson- Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea

Matt le Tissier- Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham

Charlie Nicholas- Man City, Man Utd, Tottenham, Chelsea

Arsene Wenger

You know it's not good when not even former Arsenal players Merson and Nicholas are picking the Gunners for a top four finish. Image: PA

The Gunners finished outside the top four for the first time in Wenger's reign last season, even though they did manage to win the FA Cup, and are without Champions League football as a result.

They have signed Alexandre Lacazette to add fire power to the team this summer but clearly the pundits don't believe this will propel them back into the top four.

On the flip side all four pundits believe that Brighton will be heading straight back down to the Championship whilst Huddersfield and Watford each get three votes each too with Thompson choosing Burnley over Watford and Nicholas going for Newcastle over Huddersfield.

It's set to be yet another exciting season in the Premier League. Now it's time to settle in with a large bag of crisps and count how many times Chris Kamara says 'unbelievable Jeff,' I'm predicting 9 tomorrow.
