Fans Can't Quite Believe Reece James' Reaction To Sister Lauren's Long-Awaited Chelsea Debut

Fans Can't Quite Believe Reece James' Reaction To Sister Lauren's Long-Awaited Chelsea Debut

Reece James was in the stands to see his sister Lauren finally make her debut for Chelsea.

Reece James has been given a bit of a rinsing on social media for his less-than-enthusiastic reaction to sister Lauren making her Chelsea debut.

After a long wait, the 20-year-old finally pulled on the Chelsea shirt when the came on as a late substitute in the 1-0 win over Servette in the UEFA Women's Champions League last night.

The former Manchester United forward joined her older brother at Stamford Bridge in July, penning a four-year contract with Emma Hayes' side.

Injuries delayed her debut for the Blues but she made a first-team bow at Kings Meadow on Thursday evening.

Reece, who won the Champions League with Chelsea last season, was in the stands to see his sibling - while dad Nigel was also present.

And while there's no doubting he was a proud brother, he didn't exactly show it.

When the camera panned to James, his reaction was an understated one - he did an unenthusiastic clap and didn't even crack a smile.

And his lack of excitement caused a bit of a stir on social media:

On Reddit, a user joked: "Jesus lad, calm down. No need to make a scene" - while another said the reaction "Looks like his dad forced him to go there instead of hanging out with his mates".

After the game, the England international filmed a short video congratulating his younger sister on her debut - and the team for their home win in Group A.

Both Reece and Lauren played in the same team when they were younger despite the age gap and have continued to support one another.

"I hadn’t seen many better players than her," James told the official Chelsea website when Lauren signed.

"Whenever we played together, I was always quite impressed. She played in the boys’ games all the time when I was younger – whenever I trained, she would train as well."
