Wayne Rooney Admits Worry Over Liverpool Signing World-Class Midfielder
By Mike Parrott
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney admits he has concern over Liverpool signing "one of the best midfielders". Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara has been linked with the Merseyside team throughout the summer transfer window.
With Liverpool snagging their first-ever Premier League title last season and looking to strengthen, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney admits that he is concerned over Liverpool's potential transfers.
Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich, who nearly signed for United to play next to Rooney in 2013 if it wasn't for David Moyes rejecting the signing, is supposedly on his way to Liverpool for a deal ranging between £20-30 million.
Thiago is keen for the transfer to take place, but currently has his mind on the Champions League final, which Bayern Munich will contest on Sunday night.
Rooney spoke about his concern in The Sunday times saying:
"He almost came to United in 2013 and now Liverpool are linked with him," Rooney wrote in The Sunday Times.

"He's one of the best midfielders around - I just hope he doesn't go there!
"He can take the ball, be composed on it, keep things ticking over - and he'll put his foot in. He's an all-round midfielder, really, with a bit of everything.
"He backs up that Bayern press and he drops in between the centre halves to take the ball yet can also join in when they're playing around the other box too.
"He's a great player. It would be great to see him in the Premier League, actually."
Liverpool have already signed one player this summer, Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos, a Greek left back who cost around £12 million.
