AS Roma maintained their march in the Serie A while applying pressure on Juventus with a comfortable victory away at Chievo which included an appearance from their emperor, Francesco Totti.

They close the gap on Juventus to just a single point though having played a game more, ahead of Juventus' home game against Crotone tomorrow.

Roma eventually secured all three points after beating the hosts 5-3. But with the score at 5-2 and five minutes of normal times remaining, Luciano Spalletti made a popular substitution.

Totti, who is set to retire at the end of the season, came on for his 785th club appearance which brought a brilliant reaction from a kid in the crowd.

The smile from the young fan perfectly captures the love for Totti who is calling time on his prestigious career.

Totti, ladies and gentleman.

It was a rare appearance for the 40-year-old who has found playing time hard to come by.

Speaking ahead of the victory, Spalletti maintains his stance on treating him like any other player despite his royalty-like status to the club, and more importantly to the Roma faithfuls.

"He is a legend and he will continue to be. He is the symbol of our team and a big reason why people want to see Roma," he said via Forza Italian Football.

"Like I've always said, I've had to treat him not just as a major player but also as someone who is a part of the squad and in order to do that, I have to make tough decisions that sometimes hurt [Totti]."

Just like Phillip Lahm and Xabi Alonso today, it'll be a hugely emotional farewell as Totti says goodbye to the beautiful game.
