The New FIFA Rankings May Be The Most Baffling Ones Yet

What...the...fuck?

It's not exactly a secret that the FIFA rankings rarely make a jot of fucking sense. With every announcement of the latest international standings comes a regular sense of bewilderment and a slew of hysterical social media reactions.

And following the most recent rankings being revealed, football fans are scratching their heads more than usual, with Poland and Switzerland, two countries who have, historically, done little else other than make up the numbers on the international scene (with the exception of Poland's Zbigniew Boniek inspired trip to the semi finals of the 1982 World Cup).

The Swiss and the Poles are now ranked as the fourth and fifth best international teams in the world respectively, by FIFA, outranking the likes of France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, South American champions Chile and European champions Portugal.

The Swiss' rise to fourth is the highest position the country has enjoyed since 1993 while Brazil are now ranked as the best team on the globe again, usurping Germany for the top spot, despite the fact the Germans are World champions and have also just won the Confederations Cup, with the Brazilians not winning an international tournament since the 2013 Confederations Cup.

Naturally, reaction online to the news has been one of pure, unadulterated outrage.

So that's gone down well, then.
