When David Luiz walked down the Stamford Bridge tunnel wearing his normal attire on Sunday afternoon, many raised eyebrows as to why he wasn't in the match day squad.

Ahead of the Manchester United game, Luiz played the last two matches with his right leg strapped, so many immediately put two and two together and presumed that an injury was the reason behind his absence.

Things then escalated when rumours emerged that Luiz was not injured, but had been dropped by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

So why was the 30-year-old left out of the Super Sunday clash?

In his post match press conference, Antonio Conte revealed that Luiz was left out because of a tactical decision, but there was more behind the decision as explained later on in the article.

Asked if there was a row between the pair, he said via The Telegraph: "No, no. Tactical decision. There is [Andreas] Christensen in really good form and also we have [Ethan] Ampadu who is a good young player. The club like to play with the young player."

But then the Italian seemed to suggest an uncertain future for the Brazilian centre-back, saying:

"I don't know [if he has a future at Chelsea], he has to work really hard with the others, otherwise they are on the bench or in the stand." Conte told Sky Sports via The Mirror.

It then emerged that David Luiz was dropped by Conte as punishment for 'querying his tactics' last week, according to Matt Hughes of The Telegraph.

Luiz told not to train last Friday and was forced to train alone today.

Is this the start of another Diego Costa/Antonio Conte situation? Or is this just a minor blip in Luiz's Chelsea career?

He has been rather impressive in the opening weeks of the season.
