The age-old question has FINALLY been answered. Can Lionel Messi actually do it on a cold, wet Wednesday night in Stoke? Sky Sports' Spanish expert Guillem Balague has revealed all...

Despite winning the Ballon d'Or five times, a certain few think the world's best player, Lionel Messi, simply couldn't perform in such adverse conditions.

Although the blistery conditions of Stoke-On-Trent may leave some world class players bemused and embarrassed, Lionel Messi would back himself at The Britannia.

During an interview with Stoke City's Bojan, Spanish journalist Ballague revealed that he asked Lionel Messi if he could perform in such conditions and here was his answer:

"Those people that say that say (could I do It on a cold night in Stoke) should realise I played in awful conditions in Rosario when I was 11 years old, with glass on the pitch, with holes and everything,' And he also played good."

Stoke City forward Bojan also gave his opinion on the matter:

"Messi can do it!" he told Balague.

"I understand that teams don't like to come to the Britannia Stadium, especially in winter with the wind, the cold and we're a strong team. It's not easy. But I try to enjoy it and I try to improve my football in that situation."

How good would it be if ONE day, Lionel Messi could replicate his form for Barcelona on this stage....

One day, one day....

He did what? At what age? Yeah, Lionel Messi really IS that good.
