Ajax fans said their goodbyes to talented midfielder Frenkie de Jong at the weekend after the 22-year-old made his final appearance for the Dutch champions against Ultrecht.

De Jong, who is set to join Barcelona on a five-year deal in the summer transfer window, is already living up to his hefty €75 million price-tag following a number of breathtaking performances in the Champions League.

And clearly Ajax supporters know how important he has been for the Eredivise side in recent months, giving him the most incredible farewell on his departure from the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Check out his girlfriend, Mikky Kiemeney's, reaction to the moment she realised the reception was for the midfielder.

He even joins in with the chants, holding his scarf aloft as his girlfriend films the entire thing.

De Jong has proven time and time again that Barca were right to splash the cash, including a memorable individual performance against Real Madrid.

His fearless style of play, combined with his capability to defend and attack, gave the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos nightmares in the middle of midfield.

On a number of occasions, de Jong broke the lines with dribbles from deep, and casually flicked the ball past Modric - a Ballon d'Or winner and World Cup finalist - on a number of occasions with relative ease, making the Croatian look distinctly average.

The 22-year-old showcased his immense talents on the world's biggest stage and plenty picked up on his efforts throughout the competition.

One thing is for sure, this won't be the last time de Jong gives the world a masterclass at the Bernabeu.
