Stoke City vs West Ham will now be played at 4pm after the game was delayed due to a major power outage.

According to the club's official Twitter page, a power surge has affected both club generators and the mains supply, which meant home and away supporters were standing outside of the bet365 Stadiumn after the original kick-off time of 3pm.

Stoke City released a statement via their official website, apologising for the inconvenience caused.

"A power surge affected both Club generators and the mains supply, resulting in a complete loss of power in the stadium." the club explained.

"The power went off shortly before 2pm and was restored at 2.50pm, at which point the decision was made to push back kick-off by an hour.

The Club wishes to apologise to all those who have been inconvenienced."

It was originally thought that the fixture may not be played, and social media reacted accordingly when the news emerged.
