Brazilian referee Fernanda Colombo produced a moment of brilliance in the Estrellas de Ecuador league earlier.

Colombo, who is also a sports journalist, presenter and commentator, was officiating a friendly when she called over Barcelona Sporting Club midfielder Kitu Díaz.

The 30-year-old reached into her pocket and many thought she was going to brandish a yellow card.

But in a hilarious moment, Colombo instead revealed a white handkerchief to wipe her brow.

Diaz's face is priceless as the referee holds a huge grin on her face. He was convinced the referee was going to book him for an earlier incident.

"I'd love to see a Premier League ref do this after a debatable 50:50." said British hockey player Sam Quek as the clip went viral on social media.

"Watch the players squirm for a few seconds."

Colombo, who writes for Brazilian publication Metropoles, has officiated a number of games in Ecuador, according to her Instagram,

She has also covered the Women's World Cup in depth this summer.

Unfortunately since the clip went viral, Colombo has received an email about an "immoral sexual proposal."

"I got this e-mail today which made me felt like a trash because it contains an imoral sexual proposal." she said on her Instagram page.

"I want to tell the world that I just want to do what I love which means working with football and journalism. Please, respect that!"
