It is being reported in Spain that Paul Pogba is refusing to play in Manchester United's pre-season game against AC Milan so he can force a move to Real Madrid.

The French midfielder has refused to travel to Wales as he is "not happy with his situation", According to 'El Chiringuito' journalist Jose Alvarez Gaya.

The report has emerged despite United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explaining Pogba's absence will be due to a back injury.

"At the end of the session today, Paul got a back spasm, the same issue he had last week, when he missed the session in Norway," The Norwegian told United's official website per The Evening Standard.

"But I think he'll be available early next week."

The saga surrounding the Frenchman's future at Old Trafford has dragged on throughout the summer transfer window.

Earlier this summer Pogba discussed his future at Old Trafford and a potential 'new challenge'.

Speaking in Japan, the World Cup winner explained per Bleacher Report: "There is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well,"

"For me, I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody. Like everywhere else.

"After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well... I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

"I am thinking of this: to have a new challenge somewhere else."

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly a huge admirer of his fellow countryman, wanting him to be a key part of his new look 'Los Blancos'.

Despite his declaration of wanting to leave, no transfer has materialised, with United adamant that their star man cannot leave in this window.

In spite of being linked to a multitude of replacements such as Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, nothing has changed since Pogba's comments in June.

Perhaps signing former Juventus teammate Paulo Dybala could tempt Pogba to stay at Old Trafford in the long term.

The Argentine is being used by Juve in a swap deal for United forward Romelu Lukaku but the 25-year-old is apparently reluctant to swap Serie A for the Premier League.

Should that move occur, then United would have a front line which could strike fear into any defence in the Premier League.

The prospect of that could see Pogba want to stick around at Old Trafford.
