Expect to see Antoine Griezmann in a long sleeve Barcelona shirt this season after he penned a five year deal with the club.

For years the French forward has decided against short sleeves on the pitch because of his admiration for David Beckham.

He spoke about watching his "idol" on television as a child, and how the former Manchester United midfielder made a big impact on his career.

In the interview, the 28-year-old revisited childhood memories and explained the reason behind wearing the number 7 shirt and a long sleeved jersey:

"I wear long sleeves when I play because of Beckham, he did as well and he is my idol," he told Onda Cero.

"He had a lot of class on and off the pitch. That is what I liked about him. No one had the right foot he had. I've never spoken to him but I would like to."

Griezmann was linked with a move to Old Trafford for years, and when his friend and international teammate Paul Pogba arrived at the club, rumours were certainly strong.

But Barcelona have now confirmed the signing of the World Cup winner from Atlético Madrid.

Ernesto Valverde's side have paid the €120 million (£108 million) buyout clause to release Griezmann from his current contract.

The striker enjoyed five seasons at Atletico Madrid following his move from Real Sociedad in 2014.

He scored 133 goals in all competitions in the Spanish capital, where he won the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup.

But will he be able to recreate that form for Barcelona this season?

Let us know in the comments.
