Tottenham striker Heung-min Son was visibly distressed after Everton midfielder Andre Gomes suffered a horrific injury during Sunday afternoon's Premier League clash at Goodison Park.

The Portuguese international appeared to suffer a suspected broken leg as a result of an initial challenge from Son.

Gomes then clashed into Spurs defender Serge Aurier as doctors soon rushed onto the pitch.

Son was reduced to tears after seeing the damage caused, and the Everton midfielder was soon carried off injured as players around him looked devastated.

Spurs full-back Serge Aurier was seen praying for Gomes while players and staff attempted to comfort the South Korean international.

Son was given a straight red card by referee Martin Atkinson for the challenge.

The Premier League confirmed after the final whistle that Son was sent off because he "endangered the safety" of Gomes.

"The red card for Son was for endangering the safety of a player which happened as a consequence of his initial challenge." a statement read.

In terms of the result, Dele Alli scored his second goal of the season against Marco Silva's side to put Tottenham ahead in the 63rd minute, pouncing on a mistake from Everton winger Alex Iwobi.

The Toffees pushed for an equaliser in the final minutes of the game and in the 97th minute, Cenk Tosun equalised to give Everton a deserved point.

We wish Andre Gomes all the best in his recovery.
