Son was reduced to tears after seeing the damage caused, and the Everton midfielder was soon carried off injured as players around him looked devastated.
Spurs full-back Serge Aurier was seen praying for Gomes while players and staff attempted to comfort the South Korean international.

That is the worst injury I've seen in football in a long, long time. Thoughts with Andre Gomes. That is horrifying.

The Premier League confirmed after the final whistle that Son was sent off because he "endangered the safety" of Gomes.
"The red card for Son was for endangering the safety of a player which happened as a consequence of his initial challenge." a statement read.

In terms of the result, Dele Alli scored his second goal of the season against Marco Silva's side to put Tottenham ahead in the 63rd minute, pouncing on a mistake from Everton winger Alex Iwobi.
The Toffees pushed for an equaliser in the final minutes of the game and in the 97th minute, Cenk Tosun equalised to give Everton a deserved point.
