A FIFA gamer was pleasantly surprised when his online opponent turned out to be highly-rated Schalke 04 midfielder Michael Gregoritsch.

Levy Visser, a 23-year-old from IJmuiden in The Netherlands, ended up exchanging selfies on Instagram after initially asking his opponent to help him out on Ultimate Team.

"I was just doing some challenges for Edin Dzeko's scream card," Visser told SPORTbible.

"For this card you had to score five low driven shots, which was a bit of a pain in the ass to complete, so I just decided to message the guy I was up against and he was really cool about it."

At this point, Levy had no idea he was talking to a professional footballer but his opponent was more than happy to help him score five low driven shots in return for a win.

The pair exchanged several more messages on PlayStation and quickly got talking about all things FIFA.

"While we were talking, he mentioned he was in the game but was still waiting for his 99-rated card," Visser explains.

"And after exchanging a few more messages, my opponent revealed he was Michael Gregoritsch, who played for Bundesliga side FC Augsburg last season before transferring on loan to Schalke 04 in the latest transfer window.

"I just thought it was really amazing to be playing against a professional footballer who was so relaxed and a genuinely nice guy."

Levy admits he was "sceptical" at first because Gregoritsch didn't have a blue 99-rated card, so to prove his identity, he asked the Austrian international if he could reply to a message on Instagram.

"He actually posted a picture of himself after packing Sadio Mané, which he told me about earlier," Levy recalls.

"I was actually watching Schalke play against Hertha Berlin in the DFB Pokal the other day, where he was in the starting line-up, so I congratulated him on his appearance.

"He replied instantly and sent me a picture of his 99-rated card, and proceeded to ask if I still play FUT."
