He's had a nightmare.

Everton midfielder AndrΓ© Gomes cruised into the quarter-finals of the ePremierLeague invitational on Wednesday night with a brutal 8-0 win over Chelsea defender Reece James.

It didn't take long for the Portuguese midfielder to get on the scoresheet.

He opened his account with a great strike from Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the eighth minute, and the humiliation continued.

In total, 9,000 people tuned in to watch the FIFA live stream as Gomes destroyed his opponent in style, scoring a further seven goals in the next hour of gameplay.

The fact that Gomes was looking at the camera, even before the ball nestled into the back of the net, says it all.

Chelsea defender James was quick to face away from the camera as the game went on, and the 20-year-old, to his credit, posted a great tweet after the final whistle.

"Good job I'm better at football than I am at FIFA!" tweeted James.

A number of Premier League players are currently taking part in the ePremierLeague Invitational, including the likes of Raheem Sterling and Wilfried Zaha, who went head-to-head earlier.

The Manchester City winger will play Andre Gomes in the next round after he recorded a 5-4 win over the Crystal Palace winger.

But Zaha was far from happy with Sterling's "sweaty goals" during the tie.

Thank god for FIFA, ey. We need our football fix after weeks away from the game.
