The Champions League is back this evening and so too is the spine-tingling anthem that plays before every fixture.

If you haven't placed your hands behind your back and belted out the Tony Britten composed Champions League song as your family looks on with a hint of embarrassment and regret, then something is seriously wrong.

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo got so pumped up with the trademark track in October 2017 before a game against Spurs that he couldn't help but sing it as though it was the national anthem.


You can't not get in the zone when the 'Champions' blasts out over the tannoy but when you actually read up on the lyrics when translated, it takes it down a peg. It's a tad underwhelming to be honest.

Still, that didn't stop huge roar at the San Siro ahead of Inter-Spurs. The Nerazzurri, winners in 2010, have waited six long years to hear that anthem again and they enjoyed every second of it.
