Sergio Aguero Retakes Penalty After VAR Controversially Overturns First Spot Kick
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was forced to retake his penalty in their 5-0 win over West Ham because of encroachment.
Declan Rice ran into the box before the penalty was taken, forcing a re-kick after referee Mike Dean consulted VAR.
Aguero, who missed his first spot-kick with a terrible effort, made no mistake second time round, slotting in with ease in the 85th minute.
Man City penalty retake explained from VAR HQ:
For Declan Rice encroachment and clearing the ball after the save.
VAR wouldn't have been used to rule on Fabianski coming off his line before penalty was taken. PL leaving that to on-field officials

The VAR decision has certainly caused yet more controversy on social media.
Spot on decision by the VAR, who will check if an encroaching player gets involved in the play after a penalty has been saved. That's what happened.
If the goalkeeper had pushed that round the post, or collected the rebound, there would be no retake. #WHUMCI

Hey @premierleague , how about you stop ruining the game with VAR. the new rules you have enacted have totally ruined the experience for fans. The offside rulings are terrible and too precise, the penalty called back was ridiculous #changeisntAlwaysgood #premierleauge

VAR for Penalties really?? What keeper has any hope of saving a penalty if he has to worry about his foot on the line?? How do you generate power to jump without stepping?? If it's not broke don't fix it? Don't remember many complaining about penalties

This wasn't the first controversial incident involving VAR.
It controversially overturned Manchester City's goal against West Ham when Raheem Sterling was adjudged offside by video review.
Mike Dean ruled out City's third goal, with the England winger's shoulder being inches offside.
Thoughts on the decisions? Is VAR a hindrance or a help?
