Watford striker Andre Gray bizarrely conceded a free-kick from kick-off during the club's FA Cup third-round replay defeat to Tranmere on Thursday night.

The 28-year-old, who joined The Hornets for a club record fee of £18.5 million in 2017, walked over to the centre circle to restart play when he inadvertently touched the ball twice.

As a result of his mistake, League One side Tranmere were given an indirect free-kick by referee Tony Harrington.

This has to go down as one of the most bizarre kick-off moments in recent memory.

Things would go from bad to worse for Watford, who managed to find an equaliser through Kaylen Hinds after Manny Monthe opened the scoring in the 36th minute.

But Tranmere forward Paul Mullin knocked Nigel Pearson's men out of the cup when he converted in the 104th minute at Prenton Park.

It was another devastating result for the struggling Hornets, who currently 19th in the Premier League ladder.

Thoughts on Andre Gray's kick-off gaffe? Can Watford survive in the Premier League this season?
